Zephyr Hats: North Carolina Edition

 Still at it; this is about week 14! This team-oriented series included: Auburn, BYU, CU, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Gators, Georgia Tech, and Hawaii, Iowa, the "J" Edition, Kentucky, and Kansas, Louisville, and Michigan. This week: University of North Carolina Tar Heels!

Pictured to the left, and below, are examples of Zephyr's Refresh snapbacks. These UNC Refresh snapbacks include the raise-embroidered design of Rameses, the UNC mascot and Bighorn Ram. Also raise-embroidered is the word "heels," which is located in the back above the snap. Other worthwhile characteristics about this snapback design are its square brims, green under-brims, and dual-colred snaps. The left is a unique version of the Refresh that mas made with a fleece-like material, while the original design can be seen below.

Right, the Zephyr North Carolina Superstar snapback, one of the most popular snapback designs that Zephyr has put on the market. The hat pictured is just one of number colorways done for North Carolina; you can see the others (including camouflage!) on Hatmonster.com. The Superstar snapbacks have been made with round brims in the past, but are now made with square brims. Other noteworthy qualities of this design are its raised embroidery, as well as its green under-brim.

Above, and to the left, are hats part of the Upshot series. The original upshots (above) were made with grey under-brims, whereas the White Upshots (left) have green under-brims. This is the key difference between the two versions of the Upshot, besides the obvious colorway difference. In the future, Zephyr will release the Upshock, which has the Upshot design, except in shocking, neon colors. The crown of all these designs have Zephyr's raised embroidery and elaborate stitching.

Shown next are the three different styles in the Headliner series: the Original, the Black, and the Solid. Each has their own slight variation, as far as brims and colorways go; but the common characteristic is the raised embroidery of the cursive font.

Next, the Shadow Script snapback design. This design features exactly what it is called: a cursive script with a shadow. An embroidered Rameses is also placed on the front of the crown. This design from Zephyr has one-colored snaps, contrast button and eyelets, square brims, and green under-brims, among other things.

Below, the North Carolina X-Ray snapback. One thing you might not be able to tell from the pictures is that the brims are square; over 90% of Zephyr's snapbacks are made with square brims.

One of the newer designs that has been released from Zephyr is called the Rally, and is pictured here for the University of North Carolina. The banner-like display across the front of the crown is raise-embroidered, along with some regular embroidery for the words "North Carolina." The snaps in the back are two-colored, while the button and eyelets have contrast colors too. This snapback design also features green under-brims and square brims. This design is definitely a attention-grabbing, eye-catching hat.


A unique snapback design that is not spoken of too often is the Hype. UNC's Hype snapback features the raise-embroidered Rameses logo as well as the word "Carolina." What makes this design unique is the contrast stitching on the brim; typically snapbacks are made with tonal stitching on the brim. Also featured on this design is piping, which surrounds the baby blue panel on the front. Square brims, green under-brims, and one-colored snaps are other qualities worth mentioning.

Above is the Tar Heels Blockbuster 2 snapback, which billboards the word "Carolina" across the front of the crown, as well as "Heels" in the back, above the snap. Again, the Rameses logo is raise-embroidered. This is one of two colorways.

To the right is one of most overlooked snapback designs from Zephyr: The Blockout. The big, bold, raise-embroidered font really stands out and gives the snapback a fresh, clean look. The snaps are one-colored and the brim is square with a green under-brim. I have only seen these on eBay.

Above is the University of North Carolina Front Runner snapback. The raise-embroidered Rameses logo is placed alongside three lines in the background; the middle line highlights the word "Heels." Square brims, green under-brims, and one-colored snaps are among other noteworthy qualities for this design.

Lastly, the UNC Razzle snapback. This displays raise-embroidered Razzle font, as well as a logo of Rameses on the side of the crown. The snaps are dual-colored, which is a plus; as well as the square brim and green under-brim.
